Never been skiing or riding before? This section will walk you through the steps of getting a lift ticket, picking up rental equipment and where to go for your first lesson.
Step 1 - Buy Your Lift Ticket
The ticket windows are located outside the lodge on the parking lot side. If you have never been skiing or riding before, ask about the First Time Lessons can be purchased inside the West Lodge at the Snow Sports School Desk. This 50-minute group lesson is great for first time skiers/riders and is available for ages 4 and older.
You will receive a lift ticket and a rental form.
Step 2 - Pick-Up Rental Equipment
The Rental Shop is located to the left and down the stairs from the ticket windows. Once inside, fill out your rental form completely. Then, pick out boots: ski boots are in the front, snowboard boots are in the back of the Rental Shop. Coin lockers are available to store your shoes for $.50 (The lockers require two quarters each time they are locked). Day lockers are available for $5 in the West Lodge.
Once you have your boots, head over to the ski or snowboard pick-up. You will be asked questions such as height, weight, and ability. This lets the technicians adjust the equipment to fit you.
If you are skiing and want poles, pick those up on the way out and you are ready to go!
Step 3 - Take a Lesson
Once outside on the snow, head over to the right to the bottom of the beginner area. This is the lesson meeting area. Lessons are offered every hour on the hour.
Your instructor will help you discover the fun of sliding on the snow, learning to control your speed and making those first turns through terrain-based teaching techniques. Don't be afraid to ask questions; they are here to help you learn.
